The Transformation of Norma McCorvey
Norma McCorvey, the plaintiff in the infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that ushered in abortion in the U.S., died last month at the age of 69. As many of you know, she reversed course and deeply regretted her involvement in the legalization of abortion. Her transformation from being adamantly pro-choice to adamantly pro-life did not occur through her coming to her senses and realizing the error of her ways. It began through love and a relationship. She was befriended by a pastor who eventually led her to Christ. She was baptized and began to grow in her relationship with God. As her faith grew, her life was changed and she became an advocate for life. CareNet understands Norma’s conversion very well. Through the unconditional love demonstrated by our counselors, women know that they are cared for and meaningful relationships are established. CareNet knows that only God can change a heart, so spiritual counsel is an important part of a CareNet counselor’s conversation with a woman considering abortion. Every day in CareNet’s counseling rooms, lives are being changed and saved both here and for eternity. We are grateful for the opportunity to dramatically alter the outcomes of women’s lives. As Norma’s life demonstrates, there is nothing God can’t do with a open heart and mind.
